WGBH is announcing an exciting collaboration today: Starting this morning, in partnership with the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority’s new “Explore the Pike” campaign, WGBH will feature 3-D images on our digital mural. Free “WGBH 3-D” glasses are being distributed at the eastbound Weston tolls to give commuters the full effect. “We want to expand and enrich the public experience while encouraging the 500,000 commuters a week who pass our mural to give WGBH a deeper look,” says Marketing and Communications VP Jamie Parker. All it took for ‘GBH to obtain city approval for the innovative imaging was a simple programming promise, Jamie notes: the third Monday of every month, the mural will now showcase that acclaimed Boston architectural masterpiece, Government Center. The Development team quickly jumped in to get more bang from the 3-D initiative: WGBH MemberCards will be handed out to drivers who sign up for the FastLane program, and a portion of their annual membership dues will be deducted each time they pass a toll. (Take the Pike to New York and you’re automatically a ‘GBH Sustainer!) Drivers of Toyotas will receive a special invitation to participate in WGBH’s vehicle donation program.
